Biography:
Pediatrician Julia A. McMillan, M.D.,FAAP, is vice chair for education in the Department of Pediatrics at Johns Hopkins; director of the Residency Training Program at Hopkins Children’s; and associate dean for graduate medical education at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. McMillan has served as a member of the Committee on Infectious Diseases for the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and the AAP Task Force on Terrorism. She has also served as chair of the Board of Directors of the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP) and represented the ABP on the Federation of Pediatric Organizations. She served for 14 years as the medical editor of the Infectious Diseases Sub-Board Examination for ABP, and she is the Editor-in-chief of Contemporary Pediatrics. She is currently a member of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education’s Review Committee for Pediatrics. This organization reviews and accredits residency training programs across the United States.
Dr. McMillan received her medical degree from the State University of New York (SUNY) Health Science Center at Syracuse, Syracuse, NY, where she completed her pediatric residency. A widely published researcher, author and editor, she was editor-in-chief of Oski’s Pediatrics: Principles and Practice, 3rd Edition, Philadelphia, Lippincott Williams and Wilkins, 2006.
