    Dr. Valasek graduated from Pennsylvania State University and moved to Baltimore 1998.  She worked as a laboratory technician for three years in Johns Hopkins Department of Pathology analyzing germ cell tumors and performing bench research.  She completed her Master's Degree in Biotechnology at Johns Hopkins University in 2001 and went onto medical school at The University of Maryland completing her medical degree in 2005.  Thereafter, she completed pediatric residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital and primary care sports medicine fellowship at the University of Maryland 2009.   She worked in a private orthopedic practice and Johns Hopkins Pediatric Emergency Room prior to joining the Division of Pediatric Orthopedics.  

    Dr. Valasek is a member of numerous Professional Societies including American Academy of Pediatrics, Maryland Chapter of American Academy of Pediatrics, American Medical Society Sports Medicine, and American College of Sports Medicine.
