Our Favorite Children's Books

Each month, we feature our faculty and staff's favorite books from childhood.

MARCH

Rebecca Carlson Go, Dog, Go!, by P.D. Eastman
This is a favorite book that I remember reading as a child. It is one that I have shared with many children in my own life. With just 75 different words used to create the entire story, it is a great book for beginning readers. The colorful illustrations along with the use of single syllable words and rhythmic repetition make it a fun book to share with children of any age.”

Green Eggs and Ham, by Dr. Seuss
“When I was a child, my cousin had some of the Dr. Seuss books and we read them every time I was at his house. He lived next door, so reading Dr. Seuss was a frequent event! When my first of four daughters was just a newborn, I began buying the entire Dr. Seuss collection! I wanted to share the fun rhymes and stories with my own children and pass down the love of reading that I embraced as a child. I will be reading this book to my granddaughter when she is born in June! Our family actually cooks green eggs on special occasions.
