Harriet Lane Residency Program
Training the next generation of pediatricians remains as central to the Hopkins Children’s mission today as it was in 1912, when Hopkins Children’s opened its doors as the Harriet Lane Home for Invalid Children. Our residency program is within Johns Hopkins School of Medicine's Department of Pediatrics.
A century ago, Harriet Lane residents were among the first in the country to specialize in the practice of pediatrics. Today, they complete a rigorous and comprehensive program – in both inpatient and outpatient settings – consistently rated among the top three pediatric training programs in the nation by U.S. News & World Report.
