In the Bloomberg Children's Center, meals for patients are "At-Your-Request." Chicken nuggets at 8 a.m.? French toast at 6 p.m.? No problem. On the Psychiatry unit, all meals are served buffet style, a service made popular in adult psychiatry at the Johns Hopkins Hospital.
On all other general patient units at Bloomberg Children's Center, patients (or their families for them) place their meal orders by phone to nutrition services, where nutritionists, who, with knowledge of any restrictions on children's diets, or allergies, can suggest equally delicious alternatives.
Throughout the hospital, there are several eateries where families and visitors can pick up a quick cup of coffee, carry out, or sit down for a leisurely meal.
