A graduate of Yale University School of Medicine in 2000, Assistant Professor of Pediatric Infectious Diseases Aaron M. Milstone, M.D., trained in pediatrics at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, completing a pediatric infectious disease research fellowship at Johns Hopkins in 2007. Milstone is an infectious disease consultant and an associate hospital epidemiologist at The Johns Hopkins Hospital.
His research interests focus on the prevention of hospital acquired infections (HAIs) in children. His studies include 1) the prevalence and transmission of multidrug-resistant bacteria in hospitalized children and interventions to reduce their spread and prevent HAIs, 2) the safety and efficacy chlorhexidine antisepsis to prevent HAIs in children, 3) epidemiology and prevention of central line-associated bloodstream infections, and 4) whether rapid diagnostic tests can enable early access to therapy and reduce transmission of respiratory viruses among hospitalized children.
