Biography:

Dr. Murphy maintains a clinical practice, as well as a research laboratory. She is also the Director of the Fellowship Program for the Department of Cardiology. Her laboratory has received awards from the American Heart Association, the National Institute of Health and Spectral, Inc. She has received the Rowe Award for Cardiology Research from the Society for Pediatric Research and a Clinician-Scientist Award from the American Heart Association. Her research on the molecular basis of myocardial stunning was named one of the top 10 research achievements for 1999 by the American Heart Association. She was an attending pediatric cardiologist at St. Louis Children's Hospital prior to her appointment at Johns Hopkins. Dr. Murphy is married to Lawrence Nogee, M.D., a Johns Hopkins neonatologist, and has 2 children. Her hobbies are running, photography and skiing.
