Biography:
Jonathan Ellen, M.D., currently serves as chairman of
pediatrics at Johns Hopkins Bayview. He is also vice chair of pediatrics at The
Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and director of the Johns Hopkins
Center for Child and Community Research.
In addition to clinical care, Dr. Ellen's research
focuses on the prevention of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) in
adolescents, including HIV and the factors associated with the acquisition,
screening, treatment and care of STIs.
Involved with community efforts to prevent and control
STIs, Dr. Ellen provides scientific consultation to the Baltimore City
Health Department and STI investigators in England, the Caribbean and South
Africa. He advises the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the
Jamaican Ministry of Health on STI prevention and control.
Dr. Ellen is a recipient of many awards, as well as
several peer-reviewed grants from the CDC and from the National Institute of
Health.
