Biography:
Dr. Mathews received her Ph.D in School Psychology at Tulane University. She completed her internship at Kennedy Krieger and a fellowship in pediatric medical psychology at Johns Hopkins and then joined the Pediatric Medical Psychology staff in 2011. Dr. Mathews collaborates with the Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition to provide high quality multi-disciplinary health care.
Dr. Mathews’ clinical practice focuses on improving the quality of life of children and adolescents who are coping with medical illness. Dr. Mathews has special interest in providing behavioral pain management training to those with inflammatory bowel disease, irritable bowel syndrome, and functional pain disorders. In addition, Dr. Mathews has a particular interest in improving the medical compliance and quality of life of children suffering from chronic constipation. Dr. Mathews provides this care through the multi-disciplinary chronic constipation clinic. Finally, Dr. Mathews offers high quality evidence-based cognitive-behavioral therapy to children and teens struggling with anxiety, depression, or other mental health problems.
