The primary goal of the fellowship training program in the Division of Allergy and Immunology is to train pediatric allergist-immunologists for research careers in academic settings. The fellowship training program is funded by an NIH training grant and is accredited by the Board of Allergy and Immunology. The philosophy of the training program is to foster the development of research skills while providing structured, supervised clinical activities so that, at the end of three years, graduates are prepared both to develop an independent research program, and to provide patient care. Each fellow is paired with a faculty mentor to meet his/her needs and interests.
The success of the training program is clearly demonstrated by its track record, with over 90 percent of past fellows going on to successful academic careers. Previous fellows make up many of the current and rising leaders in allergy and immunology in the United States and abroad. Graduates hold faculty positions at Mt. Sinai School of Medicine, Harvard, the University of Arkansas, the University of Maryland, Cornell University, National Jewish Hospital, the University of Pennsylvania, the University of Wisconsin, Howard University, the University Hospital of Geneva in Switzerland, and here at Johns Hopkins within our own division.
